All rates shown are estimates. Your exact quote depends on distance, service type, day of week, and any add-ons. Call (605) 205-1235 for a precise number before you book.

What goes into your quote

Every BHS Transportation quote is shaped by a handful of straightforward factors. Here's exactly what we look at — and why.

Factor 01

Service Type

Ambulatory transport and wheelchair-accessible transport require different vehicles and equipment, which is the largest driver of cost.

Ambulatory starts lower · Wheelchair-accessible vans carry higher base rates
Factor 02

Distance

Your base rate covers the first portion of your trip. Additional miles beyond that are billed at a flat per-mile rate. In the Black Hills, distances vary widely — Rapid City to Hot Springs is a very different trip than Rapid City to Spearfish.

Longer routes = higher total · Long-distance trips (50+ miles) receive a custom quote
Factor 03

Service Level

Curb-to-curb is our baseline — your driver meets you at the door of your vehicle. Door-to-door means your driver assists you between the vehicle and your building entrance. Each step up adds driver time and care.

Curb-to-curb (base) · Door-to-door (most common) · Hand-to-hand (available on request)
Factor 04

Day & Time of Service

Standard rates apply Monday through Friday, 8 AM – 6 PM. Rides outside those hours — early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays — carry a surcharge to reflect additional scheduling and staffing requirements.

Weekday 8 AM–6 PM (standard) · Off-hours / Weekend (+25%) · Holiday (+50%)
Factor 05

Wait Time

If your driver waits during your appointment — for a procedure, exam, or therapy session — wait time is billed in 15-minute increments after a 15-minute grace period. Scheduling a "will call" return avoids wait time charges entirely.

15-min grace period included · $20 per additional 15 minutes
Factor 06

Additional Passengers

Up to 2 companions — a family member, caregiver, or escort — may travel alongside you at a flat per-person rate. Passenger count must be confirmed at booking so we can assign the right vehicle.

+$20 per companion · Maximum 2 additional passengers · Must be noted at booking

Rate ranges by service type

ℹ️

These are estimates, not fixed prices. Your final quote is confirmed before your ride and depends on the factors above. We will never charge more than your quoted amount without discussing it with you first.

Standing Schedule

Regular riders get better rates

If you have recurring appointments — dialysis three times a week, weekly physical therapy, regular specialist visits — you shouldn't be paying one-off rates every time. Talk to us about a standing schedule and we'll work out a rate that reflects your commitment and ours.

  • Dialysis patients (typically 3 rides/week, 12+ rides/month)
  • Chemotherapy or radiation therapy schedules
  • Weekly physical or occupational therapy
  • Ongoing specialist care requiring regular transport
Call to discuss (605) 205-1235 Available 24 / 7

Tell us your appointment schedule and we'll put together a standing ride plan with rate details before you commit to anything.
